A DECADE OF FOCUS

Nutrition Informatics
has been a passion of mine since 2005.  The American Dietetic Association is the leader of content development in this area.  See: www.eatright.org.

A definition of the term "Nutrition Informatics", as proposed by the American Dietetic Association Nutrition Informatics Committee (June 2010) (as adapted from the definition for biomedical informatics as proposed by Shortliffe and Cimino) is as follows:

Nutrition Informatics:

The effective
retrieval, organization, storage, and optimum use of information, data, and knowledge for food and nutrition-related problem solving and decision making. Informatics is supported by the use of information standards, processes, and technology.
